Green boulevards, the ones that are really made for the people and not for cars... Canals usually are surrounded only by buildings, thats death. Anyway both look good, just seeing them in theory.

Canals, they give a city atmosphere, whereas boulevards give a city pollution and traffic.

walk is necessary for health...you cant walk on canals but you can on footpath...so boulevard :D

Canals. Because they are so nonpractical. They force more people to use the public transport(which can have in case of boats higher capacity) and are surely more romantic and better looking.
